  • Electronic Village Online (EVO) January 2012
The CALL Interest Section of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc. (TESOL) offers language teachers world-wide the opportunity to participate in the Electronic Village Online (EVO), a professional development project and virtual extension of the TESOL 2011 Convention in New Orleans. The free 5-week sessions allow participants to engage in online discussion and/or short hands-on workshops on topics of professional interest in the field of ESL/EFL.

For five weeks in January-February, participants can engage with volunteer ESOL experts in collaborative, online discussion sessions or hands-on virtual workshops of professional and scholarly benefit. These sessions will bring together participants for a longer period of time than is permitted by the land-based TESOL convention and will allow a fuller development of ideas and themes of the convention or of professional interest in general.

The sessions are free and open to all interested parties. You do not need to be a TESOL International member to participate.

Sessions are organized by TESOL's CALL Interest Section and run wholly by volunteers who have donated their time to serve the profession. There are teachers from all over the world registered for these so you'll not only learn lots of new things, but get to meet teachers with similar interests.

Registration for all sessions is from 2-8 Jan, and they start on 9 Jan. To join an EVO session in Jan-February please visit: Electronic Village Online (EVO) Call for Participation 2012 - http://evosessions.pbworks.com/w/page/48510148/Call_for_Participation2012

The “Principles and Practices” program is designed for the experienced and the inexperienced online English language teacher and course designer. Whether you design and deliver courses that are fully or partially run online, the program will help develop the skills you need to effectively teach English language courses online or blend online segments with your traditional face-to-face courses. In addition to certificate foundation and completion courses, program participants choose between ten courses in general and content-specific topics, including teaching speaking, listening, reading and writing, and vocabulary and grammar online and creating and using multimedia. Learn about TESOL’s other certificate programs, the Leadership Development Certificate Program and the TESOL Core Certificate Program, and other online education programs at www.tesol.org/education.
