In what I think was a record for ATESOL ACT, we had around 80 teachers turn out for our first professional learning event for 2015 on Saturday 21 February.

I’m sure all of those present are very grateful to Committee member Fern Hyde for suggesting we ask Margery Hertzberg to come to Canberra to present for us.  Fern also did all the liaison with Margery leading up to the event, and has written a wonderful report, which will give those unable to attend a good taste of the session and leave them wishing they’d booked earlier 😉

There was a buzz of excitement as people filled the Hughes Primary School hall early on Saturday morning, eager to participate in Margery Hertzberg’s workshop on why oracy is critical for improving inferential comprehension.
